Postdoctoral Researchers
Postdoctoral positions are advertised through the Cambridge jobs portal (cam.ac.uk/jobs). We receive a large number of unsolicited enquiries, and unfortunately we am not able to respond to these individually. The best way to join the group is to apply to an advertised position when available.
PhD Students
I am always keen to hear from motivated prospective PhD students.
If you are interested in joining the lab, I recommend getting in touch around 2 to 3 months ahead of the application deadlines. When reaching out, please include a CV with your academic performance and a short cover letter outlining your background and research interests.
Students typically join through the PhD in Engineering programme or via Centres for Doctoral Training, such as the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensor Technologies and Applications in an Uncertain World and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Photonic and Electronic Systems. While I am happy to discuss potential research directions informally, any offer can only be made after the formal application and review process.
The lab does not directly fund PhD studentships, so applicants are expected to secure funding through the University of Cambridge funding competition, relevant Centres for Doctoral Training, or external schemes.
Masters Students
I welcome enquiries from Masters students at the University of Cambridge, as well as from those at other institutions who have secured independent funding to undertake research projects in the lab. Availability varies from year to year and depends on supervision capacity, so potential research projects will need to be discussed in advance.
If you are interested, please send your CV along with a brief statement outlining your background and research interests. For students based at external institutions, any research placement will also need to align with and satisfy your home institution’s requirements before coming to Cambridge.
Undergraduate Students
I welcome applications from Cambridge undergraduates interested in final-year (IIB) projects. If you would like to work with the group, please take a look at the available project list and join the information sessions.
